Sleep Importance

I have had a lot of patients report over the last several weeks that they are finally experiencing good sleep, some for the first time in their lives (ex: a 1.5 year old who was up every 1-2 hours during the night is now sleeping through the night, which occurred after 4 chiropractic adjustments), and others for the first time in a long time due to either pregnancy discomforts or other bodily pains. (ex: a 32 week pregnant mom who was so uncomfortable at night that she was only averaging 3-4 hours of sleep shared that she is now getting 8 hours of great quality sleep at night!)

Well, sleep is the time that our body rejuvenates itself and is such an important time of our day! Our muscles and cells are regenerated and are able to heal from the days stress while we are sleeping. And if we get good quality, mainly uninterrupted sleep we will awaken feeling fresh and restored and ready to have an amazing day!

There have been many studies looking at the amount of sleep that we all need for our body to function at its best! I am sure most of you are aware of how much sleep your body needs to function optimally and it is most likely between 7-9 hours per night. Hopefully you make getting a full nights rest a priority so that you can be your best self, especially if you are a parent, because you know you need to be at your best to allow your children to thrive as well!

So, we know we are to get around 8 hours of sleep per night, but how much sleep should our children be getting? Well, that changes every couple of year and this chart shows the recommended amounts of sleep for our children!

So, if you notice that you or your child are not falling within these ranges each night, it may be time to take action to see if chiropractic care can be beneficial for you in gaining the rest that is necessary for your body each night!
